Dismissal
If you can believe it we are near the end of the first quarter of this school year. Time is flying by. Speaking of flying by….. There have been a few concerns over the morning and afternoon drop off and pick up. People are in such a rush to “beat the bell” that safety is taking a back seat. Please remember that many of our children walk to school and that we need to keep our streets safe. I requested a District Safety Consultant come to Anderson to observe and report her findings on our arrival and dismissal procedures. Looking at the initial recommendations, we will be making some changes in January. As we work through them, I will keep you informed. Please keep in mind that any changes in procedures are made with safety of the children in mind.
School Hours
We would like to remind you the school day starts promptly at 8:00 am. After that time students are tardy, and a parent must walk the child to the office to receive a tardy slip. Tardy children will not be admitte to the classroom without a pass.
It is important for students to be on time to school.
when students are late, they miss important information.
Students may not be on campus before 7:30, as there is no supervision available for them.
School is dismissed at 2:15 pm
Early dismissal/half-day release time is 12:15
It is very important that you make sure you
have a plan, for early release days.

Uniforms
Parents, please help us monitor your children with dress code and uniform policy. As you are aware, Anderson has a mandatory uniform policy. At this time, students are allowed to wear solid red, white, or blue shirts (with or without collars). They are also required to wear khaki or navy shorts, pants, or skirts. Girls may wear khaki or navy jumpers. Although there is a casual dress Friday, we still need to adhere to district dress code.
As for dress code, I have noticed quite a few children wearing sandals to school. Because we are required to give the children 30 minutes of physical activity a day, sandals are not appropriate. According to page 26a of the student handbook, “Shoes shall be worn and be securely fastened to the feet and have a low heel height. Footwear must be suitable for outdoor physical education classes.” Open toe shoes are unsafe in a PE or playground situation. In addition, please remember that skate shoes or “Heelies” are unacceptable.
